How the AI coach works
The short version. The coach is an AI system, not a person. It writes training guidance from your own numbers and a Heavy Duty knowledge base. It can be wrong, it doesn't give medical advice, and it never changes anything in your account by itself.
What it is
The FitEntrepreneur coach is an AI system that we built on large language models from Mistral AI (France). It combines three things:
- your question, and your last few chat messages;
- your assessment answers, your saved plan, and a summary of your logged workouts, personal records and progress;
- a small knowledge base of question-and-answer pairs about the Heavy Duty method.
Every answer in the chat is labelled AI coach, and every AI-generated message is also marked in a machine-readable way (in the page and in your data export), as required by Article 50 of the EU AI Act. When the coach can't write something itself, the app shows fixed text instead, such as a standard plan, a session summary built from your log or a short line after a warm-up set. Fixed text is never marked as AI-generated.
What it's for, and what it isn't
- For: general strength-training education, program suggestions, progress reviews and motivation for healthy adults.
- Not for: diagnosing pain or injuries, treatment or rehabilitation plans, medication questions, or anything that needs a doctor, physiotherapist or dietitian. The coach is instructed to refer you to a professional for those.
If you feel pain, dizziness, chest pain or shortness of breath while training, stop and contact a doctor. In an emergency, call 112.
Safety rules the coach follows
- It says clearly that it's an AI whenever you ask, and never claims to be a person, a certified trainer, a medical professional, or Mike Mentzer.
- It won't give dosing advice for steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs, extreme diets or rapid weight-cutting.
- If a message suggests someone might hurt themselves, the coach doesn't give a training plan. It points to help, such as 113 Zelfmoordpreventie (call 113 or 0800-0113, or chat at 113.nl) and 112 in an emergency.
- It is more conservative with beginners, people aged 45 and over, and anyone who mentions a health condition.
- An automated safety classifier checks messages for self-harm, medical and dangerous content and adjusts the coach's response.
- Answers appear while the coach writes them. The classifier also checks each finished answer; if it fails that check, the app replaces it with a safe reply.
Human oversight and your control
- The coach only suggests. It never changes your workouts, templates or account by itself. A plan it writes becomes your workouts only when you tap Save as my workouts, and the app asks before it replaces workouts you saved before.
- A person reviews reports about the service and any restriction of an account.
- You can see, download and delete everything the coach used about you in Account & privacy.
Your data
What we send to Mistral, how long it's kept and your rights are in the Privacy Notice. Your data isn't used to train AI models.
Not affiliated
